Lipase Catalysed Transesterfication

چکیده

There has been great emphasis on the use of biodiesel due to worldwide scarcity of fossil fuels, increasing crude oil prices and environmental concerns to reduce pollution. Production of biodiesel from biologically derived oils involves transesterification of these triglycerides with short chain alcohols to yield alkyl esters of fatty acids. These can be used in engines which are having compressionignition (diesel) and are termed as “biodiesel”. Transesterification catalysis reaction can be chemical and enzymatic by nature [1]. The disadvantages of chemical synthesis processes (for instance expenditure of high energy, triglycerides transesterification with high free fatty acid content) and downstream processes (like glycerol recovery, withdrawn of water and inorganic salts from the product, and treatment of alkaline waste water) makes the chemical approach more complex and costly [2]. Thus, the need for development of clean, reliable, eco-friendly and benign processes are motivating researchers to use biological systems as possible “biocatalysts”. Use of biocatalyst creates the operation environment friendly, however, has certain limitations like elevated cost of enzyme (lipase), less yield, high reaction time, requirement of water as well as organic solvents in the reaction mixture.

A Comparative Study of Biodiesel Production from Beef Bone Marrow

This study is concerned with the viability of producing biodiesel from waste beef bone fat and evaluate this product according to the quality requirements defined by ASTM D- 6751. Accordingly, beef bone fat was heated to remove the moisture under vacuum at 60 . Alkaline Catalysed Transesterfication was carried out by  using 6:1 molar ratio of ethanol to fat in the presence of 1% w/w sodium hydr...

Probing the effects of microwave irradiation on enzyme-catalysed organic transformations: the case of lipase-catalysed transesterification reactions.

The lipase-catalysed transesterification reaction of methyl acetoacetate in toluene as a solvent has been studied using carefully controlled conditions. Results suggest that microwave heating does not have a noticeable effect on reaction rate or product conversion.

Redesigning the mechanism of the lipase- catalysed aminolysis of esters

In previous works, the lipase B from Candida antarctica (CAL-B) catalysed the resolution of several 2phenylcycloalkanamines by aminolysis of ethyl acetate. In these processes, the size of the cycle and the stereochemistry of the chiral centres of the amines had a strong influence on both the enantiomeric ratio and the reaction rate of these reactions. In this paper, molecular modelling approach...

Biotransformations of Turpentine Constituents: Oxygenation and Esterification

This thesis describes methods to obtain value–added compounds from TMPturpentine obtained from the spruce, Picea abies. The methodology focuses on biotransformations using two approaches: an oxygenation approach (i.e. oxygenation of terpene hydrocarbons by cell cultures) and an esterification approach (i.e. lipase-catalysed transesterification of vinyl acetate with terpene alcohols, and a furth...

Preparative and mechanistic aspects of interesterification reactions on diols and peracetylated polyphenolic compounds catalysed by lipases +

The lipases from porcine pancreas and Cundida cylindracea have been successfully used in carrying out simple, efficient and potentially useful biotransformations on diols and peracetylated polyphenolic esters. It has been observed that the esterification reactions on 1,Zdiols are highly regiaselective and the primary hydroxyl group is exclusively esterified over the one at the secondary positio...
